Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one victories have been earned on hard courts

A revitalized Medvedev won his first championship for 882 days with success over opponent Moutet in the tournament final.

The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a torrid season, winning just a single victory at the major tournaments and undergoing a difficult moment at the American major.

His inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serving in particular - led to him dropping out of the world's top 10 and finally separating with long-term coach Cervara.

Presently training with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, he has consistently progressed in the recent weeks - peaking in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over opponent Moutet.

This represents his first title since the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard court from spring of 2023.

Success also indicates he has secured 21 championships at 21 distinct tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a competition with my both daughters together, so to get a championship is really nice," commented world number 14 Medvedev.

"This championship is in honour of my child my daughter, because the initial championship I got when my older daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his previous six title deciders, including in Halle earlier this year.

The player's retrieving strategy and recurring reactions on the playing surface had prompted some to wonder if his skill to play at the elite level was over.

But the 29-year-old has altered his approach in recent weeks, making an effort to advance forward and perform positively, reinforced by an improved service.

The champion fought back from a disadvantage in the first set against the tricky Moutet, securing 4 of the concluding five games to take the lead.

Both players swapped break points in the middle set before Moutet, striving for his maiden tour victory, gained dominance to push for a decider.

Moutet rescued 4 early-game break points in a competitive third set before the Russian won the break to 15 to close out the victory.

Suitably, the winner clinched victory with a point at the net area, with the Frenchman failing to manage a return after over two and a half hours.
