The buzz around the recent awards show has been intense, especially after presenter Geoff Keighley posted a puzzling photo of a strange statue. The question has been revealed. The acclaimed developer is working on a fresh Divinity game.
Revealed to be Divinity, the game was showcased with a bold trailer packed with intense imagery, from a figure engulfed in flames to an orgy and the literal descent into chaos.
A Different Direction
For those hoping for Divinity Original Sin 3, this is not that. Larian warned that a direct sequel to its beloved RPGs is not currently in development.
That said, the developer referred to this new Divinity as a next chapter of the core franchise. This distinction hints that the team might be crafting a faster-paced experience instead of another turn-based title. At this moment, this is speculation, as only a announcement clip is available.
What Makes Divinity Special
The Divinity series is widely praised and it's fair to claim it sparked the modern wave of crunchy computer role-playing games. These games are defined by detailed worlds, player agency, and flexible progression—traits that later reached new heights in games like Baldur's Gate 3.
While its setting is classic fantasy, what really distinguishes Divinity apart is the remarkable agency granted to the player.
Where many modern RPGs have simplified options, Divinity is brimming with unique possibilities you can achieve with a particular class or origin with a personal story.
The series is also wonderfully flexible, allowing players to improvise throughout the entire experience. Virtually all objectives can be completed in multiple ways, sometimes in lateral fashion.

The Journey Continues
